I think getting Rosetta's birth cert is the only way you will be able to go back . I cannot find a marriage for Thomas and Margaret - maybe they never married or maybe (given that Margaret was born in Ireland) they married there. |

ok...... Ive gone through the bits you have all kindly posted and am now certain that we have the correct Thomas and Margaret and that Thomas was most definately married to Caroline first. I have also looked up Rosetta bSept 1859 on this site but no mothers maiden name unfortunately so still stuck for a bit. Is there way of going back further with Thomas and Margaret without sending for certificates as its so costly. Thank you all x |

Hi. If you are in the London area, go to the London Metropolitan Archives after Nov 16th where you can search all the 'Ancient' local church records, ie, before 1837. LMA is closed for stocktaking until that date. Jim |

If thats the correct family Potty has posted in 1861...this is probably the birth reg of youngest child Rosetta.........this will confirm mothers maiden name. |

Is this the family in 1861 - the address is actually 2 Blackhorse Court, which seems to be off Kent St. Ignore the Bethnal Green in her POB, the image is Ireland and in another census Ireland, Cork is given: |

Can you put details of the children on here? As Janet says, a birth cert is the safest route. |

Thankyou. I know she married Thomas Archer around 1854 at a guess. |

You need to find the marriage first. This would give you a clue as it should give the fathers' names. |

Where can I find births prior to 1837. I am looking for the birth of Margaret born c 1826 probably around Southark, Bermondsey area of London. She was wife of Thomas Archer b c1824 and in the 1861 census they were living in 2 Kent Street Newington. I really need to find Margarets maiden name as Im stuck with this family now and not sure how to get further back. I'd appreciate some advise please. |
