As a point of interest, in 1881 the next-door neighbours of the Williams family were a family by the name of WRIGHT |

Have you looked for Sidney in 1901? |

Thanks to all you guys. I did not explain this very well did I? Leonard Williams was born in Hereford in 1878. Where's Closh Occle? Sidney was also born in Hereford in 1895. According to the 1881 Census Leonards sisters were:- |

I do buy the certs of all my direct lines - but use census info and free sites to work out relationships of some of the siblings etc. |

following on from Kate's point, if you note place / date of birth on earlier censuses while the sisters are still single, then identify possible marriages, you can then see if any of the places/dates of birth match with the new surname and spouse |

If I was looking for Sidney's mum, I think the first thing I would do is try to identify all of the aunts that Leonard had on both sides of the family. (With you saying it must be a sister's child, I'm guessing that Leonard is young enough to still be living with his parents). From there, I would try to identify - where possible (admittedly, with a name like White it won't be easy) - all the likely marriages for these sisters and see if any of them could have married a Mr. White. |

Calling all you experts. How does one go about finding marriage partners ? On the FreeBMD its fine for 1915 onwards but before that how do you marry one to the other? Why I am asking is in the 1911 census there was a Sidney Arthur Wright who was a cousin to the head of the household,Leonard Williams(my grandfather). This came as a complete surprise to me as this is a part of the family I did not know about. I assume that it must have been a sisters child who was boarding there. Its the same when you have the male side of the family who marries and you only have the females christian name. How do you find it out? |
