Hi there folks,
If anyone has access to Census returns, please don't use your credits. I am looking for a Samuel Padley 1842ish Laughton or some census says loughborough, from the 1881 census, he isn't with his family as i can find them on an old census return from the library and can't seem to find him, know he died sometime before 1888 when daughter marries, but can't find his death recorded. They lived in Rawmarsh. thank you everyone.

Even the eldest one would have been only 15 in 1888!

thanks for the information on the family, will check it all and get back to you. Many thanks for all of that, will have to check Lucy's wedding date, but on it it says that he has died and that on the 1881 census he won't show on the census for some reason and unable to find death between dates. Thanks again, if anyone can find his death, that would be great.

Jane Padley is on the image as Married, born Newark,Nottinghamshire, same place as John Norllidge (???sp, very difficult to read).

I wonder if they got her surname worng???

hi there,
The place of birth looks ok, not sure about age, as on the 71 census he is 29 on the 81 only 32 also not sure about the job title, why would he be in the navy, although the place of birth looks ok if spelt odd as the reall spelling is laughton -le-morthern yorkshire as it says on some of his census, but splelt like that on one. Yes jane could have the wrong surname, hope that he hasn't gone of with another woman.

Rotherham is the registration centre for Laughton-en-le-Morthern, Yorkshire


I just checked freebmd, and there are TWO Samuel Padleys born there

One in 1840 and one i 1850.

neither dates fit either the one that you think is yours, nor the one I found on the 1881.

It is possible that the other two have connections, and were registered in a different place from that expected
