I think Chrisa is right. Parish records often give the maiden name and Hatter is a good possibility. |

From the information googled, I took it to mean that the person was a hatter by trade so like Mrs Tibbetts would think he was a hatter. |

I think its more of a case that the 'hatter' is the father's occupation, and 'born' is a space to write the date the child was born on (assuming the date there is the baptism date) but that this information wasn't filled in. |
