His father was Joseph Stokes who married Betsey Borman of Tattershall, Lincs. They employed a William Burman who must have married into the family as subsequent generations were Stokes Burmans. Arthur had a sister called Rachel Agnes Stokes Burman who was my great grandmother. She married Frederick Herbert Hunter-Rowe. |

Trying to find the parentage of my grandfather Arthur Stokes Burman born around 1870. He had one brother Charles Burman and possibly a sister named Ellen. He married Laura Porter of Elm and they had 4 sons. Luther died in Mesopotamia 1914-1918 war. Wilfred John wounded in 1914=1918 war (became chairman of Norfolk British Legion). Horace (my father) died 1959 & Ralph. All the family were farmers, and farmed at Terrington St.John, Saddlebow-St. Germans & East Winch all in the capital of Norfolk. |
