Walter Knopp was my grandfather he was born in South Ockendon Essex around 1885 to Arthur Isaac and Isabel Mary Knopp. Walter was my mother's father, he married Annie Finlinson, in the early 20th century in Newcastle. He met my grannie when posted to Fenham Barracks with the Durham Light Infantry before WWI. Walter was killed in Belgium on October 13, 1914, leaving his widow with four young children. My Mom was not quit 3 years old when Walter died. |
