On the 1911 census there are almost 40 Brocklehurst's in Bolton. Going backwards -only 4 in 1861 - all 4 belong to the same family.

I see that Brocklehurst is your surname. Start with your parents names and if you know your grandparents that's another step back. If you don't know further back than that then look for your grandparents marriage (the certificate will give their fathers names) and do this for each generation. Once you get back to 1911 you can look up the families on the 1911 census and go backwards in each census prior to that.

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1922

BROCKLEHURST Herbert JACKSON Martha Bolton, Wesleyan Church, Castle Street Bolton 149/3/14

There is a death for a Martha Lena Jackson in Bolton in 1986, born 16th January 1901, and a birth for a Martha Lena Jackson in January quarter 1901 in Bolton.

But the marriage is for a Martha Jackson, no Lena showing.

Ancestry has the Church of England baptisms for Manchester showing online.
These give Martha Lena Jackson's father as John William Jackson and her mother as Lizzie, living at 22 Well (?) Street, and he is a collier.

We could probably easily go back from here, but we need you to confirm what you know to stop us following totally the wrong line.

Do you have access to Ancestry to see the original, or have you got access to censuses etc through genes?
