Elizabeth Ann Williams is a very very common name, but this the only marriage in the Wolverhampton area. |

I am looking for my maternal grandmother, all I know is that she gave birth to my Mother, Elsie May, on 6th. May 1914 at 17 Fryer Street, Wolverhampton, Staffs. My mother's birth certificate states that her mother was Elizabeth Ann Williams, domestic servant. Present at the birth was a Clara Baugh, who also registered the birth almost 8 months later on December 29th. 1914. No father mentioned. I have also tried to find out what sort of establishment 17 Fryer Street was at that time. Maybe a workhouse? I have no more information on my mother from her birth until she was registered by Joseph Cotton, Dalkeith Street, Walsall, Staffs at Wolverhampton Road School, Walsall, Staffs in 1920. By that time Joseph was her legal guardian. Until a few years ago, I always believed that Joseph and his wife Ellen (nee Edis) were my grandparents. Is there anyone out there who can help please. |
