I am looking for the mother (and father) of Edward Stephenson who married Eva Isabel Wood (Slack) in 1914.

The marriage certificate says father was John Stephenson (deceased) however other family tree records claim father was a Robert Stephenson and mother a possible Dorothy Craig. I cannot find any matches of this and struggling to understand how they have come to that conclusion.

Looks like his mother remarried and he gave a combination of his stepfather's name and his deceased father's name when he remarried.

Looks like Robert. His stepfather was John Webb

Very interesting... that would make sense as far as records show but i wonder why 'john stephenson' was put on marriage certificate.... guess we may never know!

It looks like he died after Edward and Eva married?

Strange... possible.... Eva's maternal line also shows some strange remarrying and lying on marriage certificates about dead husbands...
