There's an article about a murder in Tollesbury in 1851, the suspect lived with John Wash (dredgerman) and his wife. During the court case a Mrs Wash, wife of Charles Wash (dredgerman) gives evidence that she was at John Wash's house on the day of the murder. |

This was the John mentioned in the article- it was Henry Harrington (the brother of Mary Wash) under suspicion- Perhaps this is Charles' brother? |

I suspect John was also a Merchant seaman- the newspaper article, makes reference to John Wash's razor- when questioned, John said he bought the razor at Portland in America about 11 years ago (c1840). |
