Thanks Chris and Kath
So my Arthur Batty married Mary Frances Foster. Well that sorts that problem out then. Thanks for that info Chris
Thanks Kath, I knew there were Gray/Gray marriages but I can't link them to my family yet. I will keep looking though.
all the best

Hi
Thank you all so much for all your help. The Arthur I am looking for is the son of John William Batty and Mary Ann Gray. The only reason I was looking into that marriage was because one of my relatives said Someone in the family married into another Gray family. They said it was a Gray marrying a Gray but I can't find anything. I thought maybe they were confused and it was another Batty who married into a different gray family.
My line is the Grays. Mary Ann Batty was a Gray and I come down her brother James line. I have just started looking into Mary Anns side of the family ie the Batty line. At the moment I have very little to go on.
Thanks again for all your help.

You're right MargaretM, we do. However I think that it is probably the Arthur Batty whose parent's are John William and Mary Ann.

But I still think that we need to know if Jane is looking for the one who married Emily Gray or the son of John William & Mary Ann.

That looks more like it Choccy.
I only went with the 1908 marriage because it was in Doncaster and that was where Arthur was in the 1911 census with parents John William and Mary Ann.

Jane, the question now is are you looking for the Arthur who married Emily Gray or the Arthur who was the son of John William & Mary Ann? They are 2 different people.

I think this is more likely to be the marriage of the Arthur whose parents are John William and Mary Ann, although he shouldn't still be at home and single in the 1911 census????:-

Please can someone see if they can find Arthur Batty and Emily batty on the 1911 census. They could be in Lincolnshire or Yorkshire. Sorry I know I am not being much help but I do not know anything about Emily and I only know that Arthur was born in Derythorpe, Lincolnshire, about 1891,
Arthurs parents were John William Batty b 1857 and Mary ann Gray b about 1856,
I believe Emily's maiden name was gray and she married Arthur in 1904 Thorne, Lincolnshire.
Thanks for helping me. I have to go out now but I will be back after lunch.
