I have hit a brick wall in researching Irish, American and Canadian records attempting to trace part of my Father's family Tree. Anne Frances Kelley was born in Montreal Canada in January 1863 to William Kelley and Catharine Ryan- both of whom were born in Ireland. Anne France Kelley's marriage license [to Francis Joseph Prendergast in 1884 in Manhattan] reveals her parents as I have indicated and also that Anne Frances was born in Montreal. I researched the Canadian records and learned that Catharine Ryan and William Kelley were married in Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal in 1850, and, that at the marriage, they were widow and widower with Catharine having previously been married to Patrick Long of Tipperary. I checked through rootsireland.ie and found that Catharine Ryan and Patrick Long married May 3 1844 in Holycross, Tipperary. I can find no documents showing either leaving Ireland, arriving in Canada, or Anne Frances coming into the United States. According to rootsireland, Holydross parish did not maintain records before 1835 so I cannot locate Catherine Ryan's birth or other children. Can anyone help? Maureen Prendergast [pineau] |

The witnesses to the 1844 marriage were Edward Cantwell & Margaret Dwyer - not much help in finding family. The image is on Ancestry - if you don't have access, I can PM it to you. |

Maureen, where did the middle name Frances come from? I only see references relating to Annie Kelley. |
