As you want to know about his descendants in Australia, may I suggest that you therefore edit the heading to this thread to include the word Australia .......... there are several Australian members on here who might have a better knowledge of records.
To edit the title .................. click on Edit in the top line of your first post ............ that is to the right of your name.
That post and the title will appear in a new screen. Just add Australia to the title, and then click Submit

Thomas absconded from gaol about 21 December, money was raised for his apprehension, and he was caught near Tredegar in Wales, then put in the gaol in Bristol and then moved to Shepton Mallet gaol to be with his brother William and put to trial with William at the Wells Sessions. Two police men were given the reward money.
A later Police Intelligence note said that Thomas Satchell had appeared before town Magistrates in Bristol and ordered to be taken before a County Magistrate

there is a record on findmypast that shows that the Death Sentence in 1832 was changed by His Majesty the King for both William and Thomas to a sentence of "To be imprisoned & kept to Hard Labor in the House of Corrections for 1 Year".
They were on a long list of people sentenced to death for various offences on the Western Circuit, and then "humbly recommended" by the magistrates as "fit objects" for the mercy of the King.

Not sure what happened to them after the first sentencing in 1832 ............ and I am assuming that they are the same William and Thomas, although the first record gives no age for either of them.

Transported to Tasmania, Australia in 1840. Eventually got ticket of leave married Mary Ann Wright. May have lived in Launceston Australia.
