John Mitchell is my 2x great grandfather. I am trying o find out information about his parents. I believe his father was William Mitchell but there is some confusion about who was his mother. John Mitchell was in the Royal Artillery and married a Harriet Shaw from Guernsey. John and Harriet had a number of children one of whom was my great grandfather James Henry Mitchell. James Henry was born in Donegal presumably in army barracks. James Henry, who was also in the Royal Artillery, married Jane Rufus, who also had a number of children including my grandfather Donald Hamilton Mitchell who was born in army barracks in Templemore Ireland. |

because you've marked this as "answered" it's unlikely anyone will bother with your posting now - shall I delete the posting you've marked "answered"?? |

not fixed - I see it's still; marked as answered - suggest you edit your head and put "not answered" alongside - just click on your opening post and "edit" will appear - click on that and then do the addition |

Thanks to all who responded. Just to say I mistakenly marked the post as answered, it isn't. I believe although am unable to confirm that William Mitchell's wife may have been named Knox (possibly Ann, Margaret or Barbara |

My previous post should have said John Mitchell born 1820 not 1920! |
