Possibility looking at Alfred's service record, that although his NOK details are written as Elizabeth Sarah Hilton Wife - that the Wife has been vaguely crossed through and daughter written in a fainter hand without the other details being altered. Daughter Lizzie would have been aged c 21 in 1915. |

Andy, I think you may have cracked it. Not sure how Walter became Mickie, but Lilian is quite feasible. The WW1 record also helps. Really grateful. Thanks. I'll order the birth cert for Walter. Do you know if Lilian would be mentioned on the certificate as she's a twin? |

Just out of interest are these Hilton's connected? As there are twins here too |

Hi Rambling Rose, thanks for that. I thought it probably was widower but wanted someone else to verify it. The death you suggest could be correct, but it would mean that the birth year for Mickie and Dolly of 1909 is either incorrectly entered by Alfred James or it's not the right record. If only I had the birth records for Mickie and Dolly it would be less complicated. I could buy the death certificate for Dolly and see what information is on there, but I'll leave a while in case you or someone else on here can help with the births. |

Long shot maybe? if 'Sarah' was mistranscribed as 'Maria'? about the right age |

In the 1911 census for Alfred James Hilton 39 living at 137 Garratt Lane, Wandsworth (Piece no is 2417) in the marriage particulars 'Married' has been struck through, together with some other text that I'm struggling to read. Can anyone assist please. |
