Is it possible to buy a copy of the marriage certificate for William Denford and Katherine? If so, does anyone know how much it would cost and where I could get this from?

Curiously I can't find any record of his arrival in Canada nor of the couple returning to England.

I am now wondering if there is any way of finding out when William John Hill Denford travelled to Canada, the duration of his stay in Canada and the purpose of his visit?

According to my research I am pretty certain that James Denford and Eliza Hill are the parents of William John Hill Denford.

So can you tell us, Alison, if the parents of your William John Hill Denford are James Denford and Eliza Hill? If so, that is definitely his marriage in Montreal.

I've been trying to find more info about Daniel Cameron & Eliza Bender to see if they had a daughter Katherine but not having any luck. I can't seem to find them on any census. All I've found so far is the marriage of another daughter in Brockville, Ontario which is about 50 miles west of here.

Incidentally Eliza Bender is both 2nd. cousin 4 times removed and 2nd. cousin 5 times removed of my late husband so if this is your family we have a very distant connection.

The Montreal marriage record gives his parents as James Denford and his wife Eliza Hill of (can't make out place name), England.

Her parents are Daniel Cameron and his wife Eliza (looks like Bender) of Cornwall, Ontario.

I live in Cornwall and have a fairly extensive database of the early settlers. I have a Daniel Cameron married to Eliza Bender but don't have a daughter Katherine listed.

Assuming the Montreal marriage is the correct one, I can't see any travel record of William going to or from Canada, nor of Katherine travelling to England. which must have been 1894-5.

The only to be certain if Katherine's maiden name is to buy the birth certificate for one of the children ...............

then you will find out whether the "Cameron" in Jim Alan's name is indeed her maiden name.
