Poor Charles seems to have been from pillar to post.
In 1891, age 2, he's a visitor in the Ball household, in Aycliffe, Durham.
In 1911, he's a boarder in Darlington, working as a carriage cleaner.

There's this possible death - right age, anyway. (Why would he be in Hackney? Maybe went to live with one of his children when he retired?)
