Can anyone help me find details about my grandmother please. I believe she was born in Birmingham 1883. Married Richard Bunn and had one daughter Winnifred Marie Bunn - born 1919 , who married Harold William Livingstone. The information I have found is confusing as a lot od details appear twice in different areas.

by using Google ...............
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigration-records/home-children-1869-1930/home-children-guide/Pages/middlemore-homes.aspx
John Throgmorton Middlemore opened the Children's Emigration Home in Birmingham, England, in 1872 and took his first group of children to Canada in 1873. He established his own receiving home in London, Ontario, in 1875, called the Guthrie Home. It closed in 1890.
Children sent between 1890 and 1897 were placed through other organizations and individuals operating in Canada, such as Annie Macpherson and Emma Stirling.
He opened the Fairview Home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1897. Children were distributed from there to homes in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Middlemore also brought children to Canada from local workhouses and reformatories in England.
By the early 1930s, few children were being brought over and those were sent to the Fairbridge Farm in British Columbia.
It is believed that about 5,000 children came to Canada through the Middlemore Homes between 1873 and 1935.

A big thank you to everyone that has posted information. I'm not good at this but now hopefully may be able to go a bit further. Were people returned from Quebec or did they stay? My granny died when my mother was about 7 years old. Wondering now if she weas sent abroad but returned at a later date - my grandad was very ill and wouldn't have been able to cope. I have been told that my grandmothers sisters may have looked after her for some time (no details though). The two lots of records - same names and dates and a similar area Aston/Derirend have added to my confusion. Thank you all so much Jenny
