The above were married in Northern Ireland and had three children. The children were put into an orphanage but I cannot find out why or any details about the said couple other than their marriage. They are my husband's grandparents. |

Did all this happen in Northern Ireland? When was the last child born? Have you tried to get the orphanage records for the children? |

Long shot - no idea if these are the same people or not - probably not, actually, as the children would have been well into their teens by the time this Maggie died - and not in Larne - but I'll post it anyway , just in case - |

SS Abukir was a British coastal steamship that was launched in 1920 as SS Island Queen and renamed in 1934 as SS Kyle Queen. In 1935 she was renamed Abukir and registered in Egypt. In May 1940 she was torpedoed and sunk in the North Sea while evacuating UK and Belgian soldiers, airmen and civilians from Ostend on the last day of the Battle of Belgium. |
