Any information on my husband's grandfather who died in first year of war would be appreciated,he lived in Salford before joining up |

What year was he born Patricia? There are a number of Samuel Turners who died WW1 on the CWGC website, so having his age and wife's name will help locate him for his service number. |

On the Register of Soldiers' Effects for the Samuel Turner who died 8 March 1916 his back pay of £6 18s 9d went to his brother and sole legatee Ernest. His war gratuity of £9 went to his father Alfred. |

Hello Marie Celeste,yes that is the same family,my husband was obviously called after his uncle Frank,Maybe the family got the date of his death wrong but always believed his youngest son Francis never met him as he didn't come back after he was born 1913.Would love to find out more about his army career if possible ,thanks for all your help |
