Shirley, the three possible births you have found are actually two - one in Peterborough in 1855, and the one in York - it's transcribed twice on FreeBMD, because the page number is indistinct in the image, and two alternative versions have been given.

You haven't given us much info to go on. What else do you know about him?

Well it's definitely William Blair deceased in 1876 who is my archibald dad...and have his wedding details to Mary Susannah tattersall. That's all I know ...so think we can say with not much doubt that it's the York in 1857 one. Thanks. Not sure who his mum was but guess if we get the birth certificate we will discover.

And the family still all have links with rosegrove/gannow lane area. Doris Blair is the link...she was daughter of Ernest and Sarah Jane mirfield. So think we have the correct Archibald. :-)

Can this be him in 1871? The image does say Blades, but maybe the enumerator misheard the name. I can't see the birth of an Archibald Blades in Yorkshire or anywhere else, 1855-60, on FreeBMD.

I can't see Archibald Blair in 1861.

Thanks gang...loads of info for me to chase up. Think you might be on to something with archibald blades. Especially as , coincidentally , doris blair, Ernest Blair's daughter ( one of archibald sons) married james Heaton. In 1940. His dad was james Heaton also..he married Emily monks/ speak....but james mums maiden name was possibly McCann.

I can't seem to find Phebe married conclusively to either John Richmond or William Blair in 1861 census.

Yes I was wondering about that too. Wonder if they are anywhere on the 1871 ? My William Blair was dead before 1876 I think .
