I saw that yesterday Potty and was wondering if it was Walter. Think this is him in 1939? |

I'm afraid not Argyllgran. I don't know who Frederick's father was and I assume it won't be shown on the birth certificate. Presumably, when Frederick''s mother Alice Dorothy Hall then got married in March quarter 1919, Frederick used her husband''s (Walter James Garvan) surname. Frederick''s death record would support that assumption. |

And just for the record, presumably this is Walter in 1911: |

Margee you're wonderful. I'm such an idiot, especially as I said Walter may not have been his father. |

Born before marriage so had surname Hall. I'm having problems with FreeBMD now but I saw his birth 1918 Pancras surname Hall and mother's maiden name Hall. |

I have been unable to find Frederick''s birth record. According to his death record in 1939 in Lewes, Sussex he was born in approximately 1919. He appears to be the first child of Walter James Garvan and Alice Dorothy Hall. I have found the birth records of all of his siblings. I believe he was born in Hampstead, London, but later children were born in Pancras or Hendon, London. There is a possibility that Frederick's father was not Walter. I can't find Walter nor Frederick in the 1911 census either. |
