I am researching the Ellis family and from IGI some while ago I found :-

and I was also given

but Elizabeth does not show, so is she part of the family in 1841 please?

Thank you Kath, the ages are quite possible for 1841 and Burnley is part way between Colne and Accrington so I will have a look for a death of infant Elizabeth .....

I wonder if there's another John & Ann Ellis in Colne? It's just that Elizabeth's father was a cotton spinner in 1835, a draper on the 41 census and a cotton mill manager in 1851.

I wonder if this is the Elizabeth born 1835, Colne? Ann and Hannah are often interchangeable.

Sorry for delay, I had to go out this a.m. and haven't seen your posts until now.

I am coming down on Dea's find as it includes Emma Grace, who was my original target.

My brain has now more or less caught up on what you have posted but there is one bit of info I seem to be missing which is where was John Greenwood Ellis born please?

As the children Dea found between 1838 and 1843 are not showing on the 1851 census I looked for their deaths in FreeBMD but none of them show up (for me). If they are still alive where are they staying???

Thank you Chris, Sylvia and alviegal. Your posts are most informative and you are all good at doing it when I am not at the computer !! To be honest, all Dea's births are listed with mothers maiden name Hartley and there are entries for the same Christian (and Ellis) names in different districts in FreeBMD next to each other.
I like to find siblings, to give a fuller picture, but of course it is the parents and marriages that form the basic tree back from the living.
