A Public Family Tree on ancestry has James birth date as 1776

he was baptized on 28 April 1782, but his baptism MIGHT have been delayed.

You would only know if you could look at the original Parish Register to see if the Vicar had made a notation as to James birth date


That tree also has the information that James and Ann were married at St Botolph, Shepshed ................

I cannot find a record that shows that.

The Select records on Ancestry do not allow the image to be viewed, and the images are also not available on Family Search, which is where I think malyon found the records that she posted.

I think I will havr to give up on James Brown and Ann Smith - there are too many variables.

i think the records i found must be the james you are looking for

Could do with some infor on Ann Lakin Smith - I imagine her mother could have been unmarried and used fathers surname - I have come across this in my own fsamily records more than once - in fact my own Grandfather was such a case. L.
