Geoffrey Hawkins was born 7 or 8 th January 1926 to Edna Hawkins, in Altrincham Cheshire. Father unknown, not mentioned anywhere, family supported her financially etc but no one EVER SAID the father s name (like he was Voldermort?!) Can anyone find Geoff on Free BMD please? I just need the index but can't seem to see it. Thank you. E. |

The fact that the birth is registered as Hawkins, mothers maiden name Hawkins strongly suggested that no father is named on the certificate. |

THANKS, but there will be nothing , i know :-( I have his birth cert and fathers a name is just struck through. The Hawkins may have started out as poor basket makers in Somerset but they climbed as coachmen and carriers via Bodnant in Wales (Lord Aberconway) to Parbold Hall in Wigan before setting up one of the 1st commercial carriers in Manchester. By the time of Geoff's birth, they were very prosperous and living in a very large house called Laurel Bank on Hartington Rd Altrincham. Edna did not have to apply for poor relief or assistance of any kind etc but the family refused point blank ever to mention the father's name, even after Edna and Geoffrey had both died. So frustrating. We are now looking at 23 &me …………. |
