I have some family photos of a little boy possibly aged between 5 and 10 Ish. Some are with my nan and some with my aunt. Trouble is I've no idea who he is and can't ask as relatives all passed away. Believe his name was Tommy. Aunts name was Sarah Newton and grandmothers name was Sarah Taylor. Sarah married in 1935 to James David Newton. They lived in Bethnal Green, London. Any help gratefully received to sort out this query.

I can find no births in London with surname Newton and mother's maiden name Taylor, so it doesn't look like he was the child of James and Sarah.

If your grandmother was Sarah Fitzgerald married to Henry Taylor, then I can't find a birth of a "Tommy" to them either.

Can you guess at the year/s from how old your aunt/grandmother look< can you see if your aunt is wearing a wedding ring?

My nan died age 54 and my aunt aged 28 both in 1943 and the photos could have been taken say up to 10 years prior - only a guess though. Nan could have been 44 and had another child maybe Tommy was a nickname? And yes she was married to Henry Taylor. Thanks for your help ladies.

Was your aunt an only child? Could Tommy be the child of her sibling?

There were three other Taylor/Fitzgerald births in Bethnal Green in a reasonable time-frame - Ellen 1916, Mary A E 1920, Rosina 1921.

Could they have been Sarah's sisters?

I can't find likely marriages for any of the other girls before the death of your grandmother.

If the little boy WAS part of your family (and possibly he wasn't) then this is the only likely birth I can see if one of the girls had a baby out of wedlock:-

This couldn't have been Sarah A. Newton though as she was already married by the time of this birth.

If that's him and if Karrie's right in her estimation of his age in the photo, the photo must have been taken not long before the two Sarahs died.

There were 4 daughters, no sons, 2 of whom died at 2 & 3 years. That leaves one daughter who would have been 16 if she had this boy in 1937. I will have to get a birth certificate to confirm. Is there any deaths of this boy before 1943? Thanks again.

No, I don't see any sign of his death around that time.
