HAYTER Family originating in Wiltshire mid 1800's and the branch of the Hayter's STARTING in about 1934 IN HARARE ZIMBABWE My Maternal Grandmother's brother Clifford Norman Hayter (b1906),Emigrated in 1924 can any one help? Please with the Zimbabwe info? i,e. was his wife a native ? He was the Chief Hortculturalist in the research department in Rhodesia when he retired in 1966. Thank you.

For our reference,from a tree on Ancestry (which also includes photos and a newspaper clipping about his retirement):
When Clifford Norman Hayter was born on May 13, 1906, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, his father, Frank, was 44 and his mother, Grace, was 35. He married Lydis Elizabeth May Sims on September 3, 1936. They had one child during their marriage. He died in 1992 in Harare, Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe, at the age of 86.
Lydis Elizabeth May Sims was born on August 30, 1907, in Southampton County, Virginia to Mr. Sims. 30 August 1907 • Portsmouth, Southampton [EDIT: that's wrong - she was born in Devon, England - see birth record below]

I can't see her in the 1911 census - presumably her family went to Rhodesia before then, although I can't see any travel record either.

Here is the 1911 for Lydia's family. She appears to be called May in this.

Don't worry ............ we all have subscriptions to different sites that we use for our own research, and also to help others :-D
