Hi,everybody, again.Sorry to be a nuisance. There are 2 trees on Ancestry about the McAloon Families. One shows Andrew b.1827 with a son called Cornelius,b.1850, Gateshead.Another shows Thomas b.1828 with a son called Cornelius,b.1851,Leadgate.My puzzle is that both trees say "their" Cornelius married Elizabeth McGraham in the 1870's.Obviously one is wrong, but which one? All the best,Terry L.

The marriage cert for Cornelius would give his father's name.

This is the baptism of the one born 1850:-
First name(s) Cornelius Last name Mcaloon Gender Male Birth year - Birth place - Baptism year 1850 Baptism date 28 Jul 1850 Residence Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England Place Newcastle on Tyne County Northumberland Country England Father's first name(s) Andrew Father's last name Mcaloon Mother's first name(s) Ann Mother's last name Madden
As Potty has already said, if you buy the marriage certificate it should give his father's name.
I must admit I never look at other people's trees unless I find a connection myself. Easier to start with yourself and work slowly backwards getting certificates to confirm your research.

I think whoever owns the tree with Thomas named as the father has made a mistake. This looks like the family in 1861 and Thomas born c.1828 is a lodger (and possible brother) of Andrew:-
1851 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription Lead Gate, Durham, England
First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Gender Age Birth year Occupation Birth place Andrew MacLoon Head Married Male 26 1825 Iron Stone Miner Ireland Ann MacLoon Wife Married Female 19 1832 - Ireland Cornelius MacLoon Son - Male 0 1851 - Gateshead, Durham, England<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Thomas MacLoon Lodger - Male 23 1828 Iron Stone Miner Ireland Patrick MacLoon Lodger - Male 19 1832 Iron Stone Miner Ireland Barnard MacLoon Lodger - Male 14 1837 Iron Stone Miner Ireland
Although this record says Cornelius is born 1851 I think he would be born 1850 and had not yet reached his first birthday by census day in 1851.
