I was brought up in Welbeck Avenue which is very near Haughton Church and Haughton Village. All of my family were married, christened and my dad's ashes are buried at St Andrews Church, Haughton-Le-Skerne. I wish I had known whilst living there that some of my ancestors may be buried there. Thank you for the time you have spent helping me with my search. |

I'm just looking at the Bishop's Transcript and it states on Baptisms that John Wilson was of Haughton Lane and then on later Baptisms Whinbush, Haughton. When I'm on my laptop this afternoo i'll send you a copy of the Bishop's Transcript image. |

I have Robinson's birth certificate, Joseph's son which states Robinson was born in 1840 at Cockerton and states that Joseph was a shoemaker at that time and then I believe he became a farmer. His wife was called Elizabeth Martin before their marriage at Cowton, Yorkshire in 1824. Joseph was born at Haughton-Le-Skerne and by pure coincidence I was brought up in Haughton-Le-Skerne. Once again I can't thank you enough for your help. |

The 1851 Census states that Joseph was born at Haughton ( I take this to be Haughton-Le-Skerne) rather than Cockerton. Haughton, like Cockerton, is a suburb of Darlington and although the date is slightly out I think the Birth/ Bap is a good contender for your Joseph; especially as the mother is Mary Robinson and Joseph named one of his own sons Robinson. |

Thank you so much. I confirm that the 1851 census is correct and that he had a son called Robinson. I'm really grateful for the help you have given me. |

Thank you so much for the information. No I'm not sure what Joseph's father's name was. I have tried searching for Joseph's birth details but I just cannot seem to find him. I'm really grateful for your help. |

I would really appreciate it if someone can help me find Joseph Wilson born 1801 at Cockerton, Darlington as I have come up to a brick wall in my search. I have searched Durham Records and the only Joseph Wilson I can find for 1801 doesn't match as it states his father was John Wilson who was a schoolmaster and my ancestor was a farmer. I have tried searching Baptisms and Parish Records but I haven't had any luck so far. I would really like to find Joseph's birth details so that I can find out who his parents were. Thank you all once again. |
