It seems they were both born Rawclliffe according to census records but one married Hannah Kilham and he was a ag labourer and your John a boot and shoemaker.

There seems to be 2 John Butterill 1 born in Rawcliffe, and another in Goole at around the same time the question is are these 2 place near ? or are they 1 of the same man ?

Possibly a typing error on the gro record

Hello I am trying to find who Lucy is . On the 1881 census she is married to John Butterill. and has a daughter Loretta born 1871. Loretta is my grandmother
In some places she is Lucy M and in an other Lucy Ellen------- I should say that Lucy according to the 1881 census was born in Knottingley Yorkshire' .also I do not have a marriage Date
