I have the marriage certificate . It was in a Registry Office in Islington London. He says that his father was William ( deceased) The witnesses were R E Chapman and M A Smith. His father was a dock labourer. Thanks for the reply. Lesley. |

Looking for records of my husbands grandfather John Sherman born 5/12/1885. (From army papers). It was said that he was born in Ireland but on his enlistment papers he said he was born in Spitalfields, London! He died 19/10/1948. He was married to Lawrie Beatrice Pyrke on 20/10/1919. They had 4 girls and 4 boys. He was in the merchant service (a stoker) up until 1914 when he enlisted. He put his next of kin as a sister Kate Redden on his papers as living in Lower Edmonton. None of his children are still alive and nobody in the family knows anything about him except what I have found from records.I don't know where else to look now and am tearing my hair out. Any suggestions or help will be really appreciated. Thanks. Lesley Sherman. |
