It's amazing what you can find on Google if you are inventive!

A successful company with 180 years of tradition
Our manual handling division was created when we bought the much respected and well-established company of Samuel Handley in 2004. The business of Samuel Handley started life as a rope and twine merchant in 1830 somewhere in the Manchester area.
Samuel Handley became a supplier of manual handling products to the brewing industry when they acquired R. Parker, who had been manufacturing and supplying cork dropping bags for brewers for many years. From here, the company grew and added to its product range, gradually establishing itself as a leading supplier of manual handling equipment to the brewing and licensed trade.
On 1st October 2004, Murphy & Son acquired the goodwill, assets, trading name and intellectual property of Samuel Handley. This was an exciting opportunity for us to extend our products and explore new markets. We quickly became a one stop shop for brewers and licensees supplying quality assured products, backed by technical expertise from one renowned company.
Now our manual handling range has been extended further to suit many more applications in different industries. Nevertheless, the range still offers the same product quality, customer service and value for money which customers have come to expect from Murphy & Son.

Hi there,
I worked for Samuel Handley Rope Manufacturers late 1950's which was Hankey Park/ Ellor Street area of Pendleton, Salford, Lancashire. Can't for the life of me remember the address but I remember that it was a very dirty place to work although I was in the office. Very shed like. In the early 1960's they moved to Heywood Road, Prestwich Manchester. I left about 1 year after that.
