Find Ancestors

Can anyone assist me tracing a date of death for my G G Grandmother Martha Amelia Chandler { nee Foster}. She appears on all census records upto and including the 1901 census.I assume she must have died sometime between 1901 and 1904 as my G G Grandfather William Henry Chandler re married in 1904 marital status widowed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you considered this death? She seems to be listed as just Amelia on the 1901 census and living in Bristol.

I think the Ellen Amelia Chandler death is correct- husband a plasterer:

Western Gazette - Friday 13 December 1901
Tragedy at Bristol:
Ellen Amelia Chandler died in the Bristol Infirmary on Tuesday from injuries which she was stated to have received in a quarrel. Her face was battered and her head and back were severely bruised. Her Husband, a plasterer, was arrested on a charge of murder and remanded.

Another report says that police were called to Callowhill Street- husband was Henry Chandler, plaster- I believe this is where they were living on the 1901 census- confirming it is the correct death.

Thanks for your prompt replies,I believe the report in the Western Gazette may be correct as the address listed on the 1901 census is 46 Callowhill St. Yes it does appear that both used their middle names on census reports.
Maybe the paper made a mistake with the name as there was a daughter named Ellen.
If the husband was charged as stated I would assume there would have been a severe jail sentence and yet he remarried 3 years later.
I hope I've not uncovered a dark secret that was never talk about { ha ha } but thanks for your input.

The charge was reduced to manslaughter after the coroner's inquest. He was found guilty, but it was stated that his wife had been addicted to drink and he had received great provocation. He was given twelve months sentence.
