Although at first glance this seems wrong I think that William Roots age has been recorded incorrectly. (He can't have been a father at the age of 10) if you look immediately below the marriage image (I posted above) for William Baldwin and Mary Ann Roots you will see the marriage for her sister Harriett Ann who married Reuben Wraight.

Jayne, it might be worth ordering the marriage certificate for Thomas Samuel Hodges to confirm the name of his father. I think that the Thomas Hodges that has been researched above might be Thomas James Hodges born to George Edwin and Susan Hodges baptisted 10/04/1904 (details already given by Chris Ho :) see link below. )
http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/query/results/?Mode=ShowImg&Img=/cityark/Scans/Ecclesiastical_Rochester_Archdeaconry_Area_Parishes/P405_WOULDHAM_1538_1973/01_Initial_Deposit_1538_1973/01_Incumbent_Service_Register_1538_1969/P405_01_07.html/00000301.jpg
So it might be that these are 2 different Thomas Hodges.
EDIT JUST FOUND THIS:
From freereg: Marriage for Thomas Samuel Hodges

EDIT: Although this shows Thomas Samuels father as George Edward Hodges perhaps it might be worth ordering Thomas Samuels birth certificate to be sure that his mother is Susan Baldwin and that you are following the right family. I have added some info below just in case this is the right family.

No need to apologise Jayne. Sometimes discretion really is the better part of valour.
We haven't looked to see if it was a second marriage for Thomas or if he had any children. The informant on his death registration may be a family member, if that's any help.

Oh my!! Thank you for so much information :) just trying to digest it all. I havnt done anything like this before & it all looks so confusing! lol Thomas & Ethel were my starting point so I have nothing in return right now, sorry.. Also having huge problems with my iPad atm so searching is a bit hit & miss & even just getting online sometimes very difficult. Hopefully i will have a new iPad in the next week or so & will be able to really get researching :) & return your good deed :) My reasons for finding Thomas are private I'm afraid. I feel a bit bad not being able to disclose after you have been so helpful.. but the information concerns someone else too & is personal. Hopefully I will be able to reveal the whys in the future though. All depends on others here & ones I find. Sorry to be so 'cloak & dagger' Thank you again though for getting me started! :)

........ But there are a few possibles born in Kent around that time so her age, father's name and occupation from her marriage certificate would help.
