Hi,
I have a death cert (1974) for Florence Gertrude THORNDALE, on which the informant is Florence May FALLON - Daughter in East Grinstead.

Florence Gertrude was a HOLDEN before marriage.

Can anyone find a marriage for a Florence May Holden born 1913 in East Grinstead,to a FALLON? oh I just thought it may have been a second marriage.

Any help would be great.

so was born before the marriage to mr Thorndale

So she married as Thorndale even though her legal name would have been Holden unless, of course, Mr. Thorndale adopted her.

Mr. Thorn dale had been married previously. Perhaps he was Florence May's father but just wasn't free to marry Florence Gertrude until 1924.

Well he isn't on Florence's birth cert as she only reg as surname Holden mmn Holden

Thera are 3 more children after her all Holden mmn Holden. But the births seem consistent as if mum was in a relionship

Maybe they didn't want to name dad because of the legal side as divorce in those days was more often for adultary which had to be proved

I think this birth shows who she was in a relationship with?
