He joined the 3rd Regiment of Kent ..2nd div...1857 ..age 17..at Limerick Ireland..sent to Malta in 1858..
I have been unable to find this man, or his birth record..or parents /siblings...
He came to Australia in 1869..married and moved to Adelaide South Australia, where he stayed till his death in 1924....
The only two James Nelsons I have found are..1 James Mitchell Neilson..b `1841, Rosemary Street Presbyterain Church..Belfast..father James Neilson..mother Agnes Nesbit...
2 James Pippard Nelson..b 1841 Belfast Ireland..father James Nelson..mother Agnes Pippard...
what is confusing here is on FMP James Mitchell is registered with mother Agnes Pippard...
both these James Nelson (1841) are within the Shankill area of Belfast...Help please...

James Nelson: James Nelson..born 1840-1 Shankill Belfast..was the son of James Nelson..Publican of Belfast, Ireland...James Jnr. joined the 3rd Regiment of Kent (The Buffs) at the age of 18..and was stationed in Malta 1859..where he was courtmartialed for shooting at his superior officer, and sentenced to 10 years transportation to Western Australia in 1861..He was released in 1869 for good behaviour, and met and married Mary Jane Donovan, daughter of a Bristol House Painter.they moved to Adelaide South Australia in 1877, where they raised a family of 2m..and 5 F..James died in 1924, Mary in 1930..and both are buried at West Terrace Cemetery..Adelaide South Australia..
