Find Ancestors

My uncle William Albert Hurrell seems to have gone off the radar between his birth in November 1894 at Salcombe, Devon and his death in Portsmouth in 1960. I know he married an Irish Roman Catholic girl called May. I understand he was a mariner for some time but no other facts. I believe I have quite a few cousins scattered around the country but the only names I have are of twins Robert and Peter born about 1935. Can anyone help?
