The death of 1906 was for the wife of Charles Carter Bn 1847 Pultney Street Islington the son of John and Maria Carter, sorry all, I looked at the wrong sheet. Old age..

that maria carter in 1881 census is the same age as one in 1871 and if john had died she is own her own living in different place

Yes that's the one, his age varies on a lot of census and other records but other details match.

Sorry 1906 was an error looked at wrong sheet that date was for Mary Ann Lane Banksbland the wife of Charles the son of John and Maria,

As some of the ages vary between records, I think that's him as other details all seem to match.

There is a Maria Carter in 1881 in Clapham but give a birth place of Clapham.

That doesn't seem to the same Maria. The one you've posted appears on earlier censuses.

Have you found her on any censuses after 1871?

Have you found a death record which you think might be hers?

Is this the 1871 census record you think is them?
If so, John's birth is way out, and it says they were all born in Islington.
John's a bricklayer, and Maria and Mary Ann are both laundresses:

Curiously on the marriage record on Ancestry it states that Maria Wolff is a widow but gives her father's name as Joseph Wolff.

Also she signs her name on the 1839 marriage but on the 1832 marriage of Maria Foxley to William Wolfe she just makes her mark.

There are loads of deaths for John Carters in various parts of London - it's a very common name, which doesn't help

if the last census you have is 1871 have you looked for a death after that date

Can you help please,,, I've been trying to find 2x Grd father John Carter bn circa 1814, he marr Maria Wolff widow nee Foxley 6/Oct/1839 Islington living Pultney Street have cert , I have certs and records for all children.
The only entre on 1841 census that match's for age's is a John Carter bricklayer bn Ireland, with Elizabeth wife Elizabeth dau. address is about right, 1851 Living Leith 51 Salamander Street bn England as Ultramarine blue maker with Maria Carter wife, child'n Elizabeth and Charles,
1861 back in London claiming bn America with Maria, Charles and a Mary Ann bn circa 1852 Scotland.
1871 London bn England with Maria and Mary Ann,
Father was a John Carter on marr Cert as died, Maria had marr a William Wolff and had a William and a Elizabeth Rhoda Wolff which match's the Elizabeth for age's.
Charles marr Mary Ann Lane nee Banksbland 6/May/1867 on cert father John occ Bricklayer crossed out, Colour Maker added.
I don't know when John died I have Birth Bapt, death records for children, think Maria died circa 1906?
So far all mine and others search's have drawn the same info, Does anyone have any other idea's please.. Regards Robert. ps would like to find the truth about John
