Death of Kathleen Guest: found a death in 1976 but not sure whether she's the Kathleen I'm looking for. Mine was Scottish-born but lived in England at London, Southport and Liverpool. She visited her daughter at Moreton, Cheshire, England but travelled to Canada too where her son lived.
She declared that she was making Australia her future residence and travelled there after her husband died.
Her daughter, Margery Guest moved to Australia at the age of 22, leaving Liverpool, UK on 26 Sept. 1925 after her Dad died at Golders Green, London. I found a marriage for a Margery Guest to a George L G Tilford - Aus Mge Index 1788-1950 but I don't know when or where or, indeed, if it is my Margery.
Can anyone help, please?

Taken another look and I think I've found Kathleen Guest's death but do not know the location.
All I can see is Kleen Buchanan Guest 1949. Buchanan was her maiden name.
Can anyone help me with place, please?

Joy, When did the father/husband die and Kathleen leave for Australia?
The odd thing about this is the Australian electoral roll info after that 1925 Tilford/Guest marriage. It looks as if Margery Tilford and Kathleen Guest were somehow related.
From 1930 through to 1937, both Margery Tilford and Kathleen Guest live at the same address: Brentwood, Harold Ave, Paramatta, NSW At no point is George Tilford found at the property.
The 1976 death refers to a woman who died in Victoria ?

Great stuff Glasgow Lass.
Margery is Kathleen's youngest child.
Meanwhile I've found that George was George Lancelot Gordon Tilford and he died in 1928, leaving a will that I don't have access to. His widow, Margery would have only turned 25 in 1928 so she probably married again - but not certain. I'll start checking.

Still need help, please.
I've not found a remarriage or a death for Margery Tilford nee Guest. As her mother, Kathleen Guest nee Buchanan, died in Victoria, Australia I have particularly looked there and in NSW. I have also looked in England where Margery was born and where her sister Kathleen Roberts nee Guest still lived and in Ontario, Canada where her brother, William robert Guest lived. Zilch!
I do not have access to the NSW will of Margery's husband, George L G Tilford (died 1928 NSW) and wonder whether anyone can help me there too, please?

Thanks Glasgow.
The death I found in Illinois, USA 1938/9 may have been a coincidence with both Guest and Tilford names mentioned with Margery.
I shall look for a marriage and a death for Margery Tilford and Kenna now but as Margery's mother died in Malvern, Vic in 1949 it's a pointer.
I'll search now.

See my other entry under Illinois, USA deaths.
I found my Margery had returned to the UK with John (no marriage found yet).
She died in June 1975 at Swansea, Wales. The death gives my Margery's birth-date correctly. John also died in Swansea, in July 2004. He was several years younger than Margery.
I'll still search for a marriage for them but they may not have married.
Thanks everyone.

Think I'll stop as I found a Ruth Petrie Kenna on the Swansea Electorall Roll 2002 and it's not far in the past so I may be starting to invade someone's privacy.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks Glasgow.
Margery's sister was living at Hoylake Road, Moreton, Cheshire and married to a doctor (Henry Charles Roberts) so I can see the connections. Their mother, Kathleen Guest gave the address on a couple of travel documents.
I think it may be the eight-year-old Margaret who is the anthropologist and author.
I wonder whether they had any earlier children who stayed in Aus. unless John had been married and had children previously. It could be possible as I've not found a marriage for them.
I, too, found a Kenna at the Uni of California.
I did find a Ruth Petrie Cleary (on others' family trees) who had, apparently, married John Kenna in 1978 but not a marriage for them. She could well have been the Ruth Petrie Kenna living with John in Swansea in 2002.
Your help has been much appreciated - and here's something for you. Margery's grandparents (William Guest and Elizabeth Jeffrey) married in Glasgow in 1860 at High Church. They relocated to William's hometown, Liverpool where, after giving birth to two girls (one my great-gran), Elizabeth died having William Robert Guest - Margery's father.
It's a small world.
