Find Ancestors

i wonder if somebody could help me please with the quick family finder i put my details in name birth year place etc and comes up correct then my parents details mothers year of birth and my parents name and date of marriage but when i get to my grandparents on my mothers side it says it cannot find details any ideas please?

Not got a clue what you mean by quick family finder - is this something on this site?

Yes it is but never used it as I prefer other sites for my research

Just tried it out - what a load of rubbish that is



It started with 1943 for the year of my parents marriage - wrong 1952

It suggested 1931 for year of birth for my father. Wrong it should be 1928

Do you know about this site - it is free

It is not complete as work is done by volunteers. You can check what years have been done but it goes from 1837 when registration began up to 1950 - 1960's

Inputting my birth year and place, it came up with mum's maiden name - next step - look for marriage. It suggested 1943 - wrong. I checked - no marriage for surname combinations that year on FMP or freebmd, (so where did that come from) - only 1951 and 1966. So then I added the place of marriage i.e. the county and lo and behold the 1951 marriage of my parents showed up ( so why not without the county?)

You obviously need to know all the answers before you ask the questions!!

i gave all the right answers maiden name year of marriage etc and where for my grandparents were married but it kept coming back with not enough info so what else do they want you gave all the answer they required but it kept coming back not enough info so just gave up
