I have a Sarah Hannah Shelton born sept qtr 1850 registered East Retford. Got an 1861 census with her age 10 as living with George Harvey, Elizabeth Harvey and their son George Reuben 1. It looks like dau law, but i think should be step-daughter. If i could get 1851 she will hopefully be with her parents.

Thank-you very much. I have found two different death for the name John Shelton and a marriage for John Shelton to Elizabeth Webster in 1849. Teresa

"Daughter-in-law" was used in those days in the same way we use "Step-daughter" today.

Looks like they didn't marry as Elizabeth is back to being Shelton again in 1871, stating she's a widow.
