I am trying to establish a family tree. My granddad Ronald Anthony Lawrence died in 1982 and my nan Pamela Dora Lawrence - maiden name Corlett died in 1995. Unfortunately I know nothing about their parents, grandparents + as far back as I can find out.
I would love to start a family tree.
I am not sure if they were born in Porrtsmouth but i know my nan's granddad was gamekeeper at Leigh Park Gardens - Staunton Country Park.
My nans mother was called Jessica Jubber (maiden name) later become Corlett. I believe she married twice?
Any info would be fantastic.

YOUNG HOUSE BREAKERS
George Jubber, 14, Joseph Jubber, 10, George Butt, 11, Walter Butt, 9, and Henry Brampton 12, were brought up on remand charged with breaking and entering a store in Lucknow Street occupied by Samuel Knight, and stealing good to the value of 7s 6d, besides 2s 6d in money, on Thursday last. Evidence was called to prove the prisoners were seen dealing with some of the stolen property, and they were committed for trial, bail being allowed.

They were all sentenced to 10 days imprisonment and 5 years in a reformatory. However, they were released from prison under orders from the home secretary- narrowly escaping being sent to a reformatory in Liverpool!

It seems that George (of 62 Plymouth Street, according to article) had been in trouble before- having been charged and fined with the theft of a blackbird in a cage in August 1882- article in Portsmouth Evening News - Thursday 24 August 1882.
