If Elizabeth was born 1867 and Rose 1866.......they wont appear on the 1861 census.
Where and when was William Barron Kendell born?

Sorry I don't know when and where he was born. I guess it was in Lincolnshire somewhere.
I have just found this on freeBMD
Rose Kendell bap 24 Jan 1866 Killingholme, mother Elizabeth Barron Living at South Killingholme was a Spinster.
William thomas Barron b26 Jan 1864mother Elizabeth Barron South Killingholme and he was illegitamate.
So it sounds as if she a couple of children out of marriage. Sorry if I have caused any confussion by putting these childrens names on here. I was just giving you all the information I had on this family.
thanks for helping me PricklyHolly. It seems that perhaps this census wont help me.
Sorry

Jane, I think we just misunderstood the first post- Do you have Elizabeth and Rose on the 1871 census?
If Elizabeth was born 1867 who got married in 1870?
Is William Barron Kendall their brother or father?

No I don't have them as a family on any census.
I got the name William Kendell off the marriage cert. Matthew John Dawson was a witness to their marriage and I guessed at Elizabeth Ann Dawson being a sister of Rose.
I looked them up and found a marriage for a Elizabeth Ann Barron and a Matthew Dawson in 1870.
That Elizabeth Ann must be wrong as she couldn't have got married in 1870.Silly me.
Thanks so much for helping me

Thanks PricklyHolly
The marriage is correct and the 1911 census are my family. I haven't sent for the birth cert for Rose. My family is the Gray/Greys. but that looks correct. The 1871 could be correct.
I have just gone through the parish records on Lincstothepast and I cannot find anyone by the name of Kendell on there. I did find Charles and Jemima Barron mentioned in several places in the Baptism records so the 1871 could be correct. Best I go back and see if they had a daughter called Elizabeth.
It looks likely that Rose's mother Elizabeth did not marry. So is William Kendell a made up name or perhaps he came from another village.
Thanks again
Jane

She becomes Elizabeth Ann Dawson on the 71 census. The mother Elizabeth Barron was the one who married Matthew Dawson in 1870.

I don't know what to think.
There are no Elizabeth Barrons born in South killingholme between 1840 and 1866.
I found the 4 children for Charles and jemima Barron but they did not have any child by the name of Elizabeth. So where are these people hiding.
I must give up for now and I will have another look into this later.
Thank you so much for all your help

From the info you have all just given me it does look likely that Charles and Jamima are Roses Grandparents. I could not find Elizabeth on the parish records. I must be going blind.
I don't know whether this is just a coincidence or not but the Grays do have links with the Camm family. Having just checked they are two different family's
Thank you all very much for helping me.
