You would be incredibly baffled if he really was born on the sea at Buckinghamshire..a landlocked County.. |

Thanks everyone, yes all the info you have supplied is correct...its the william hackett and the "Born at sea" thing that is holding me back from pushing on with william hacketts side of the family, as i dont have a birth or any parents for him..I do know that the Hastings is most probably Austin as Watchett is Haackett.....The joseph huchet age six is my gt,gt grandfather and again is should say (Hackett)...The enumerator must of had a few too many, i reckon :-) |

I was wondering if it actually says On the Sen a british subject. |

I think William Hacker lives on Stanniforth St on one of the censuses, can't remember which one at the moment |

Heres a snippet of what i have found :John Austin, Bachelor & Eliza Chamberlain, spinster, both of this parish and were married at this church st peter & st paul by banns on this fifth day of october in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty two ( 1832) This marriage was solomized between us John Austin X his mark & Eliza Chamberlain X her mark. in the presence of us James Rowbottom X his mark & Mary Chamberlain X her mark ( This is Eliza Hackett,s first marriage) |

If the above is Eliza' first marriage, why isn't she called Hacket* That is, if she is the mom of William Hacket* |

Having found the relevant entry I think the census entry is for William HACKETT, This does state that he was born "ON THE SEA" but the words that follow should be read as "BRITISH SUBJECT" and not Buckinghamshire. |
