Thanks everyone for your help. I knew Thomas Bentley Booth was the father of Fanny Booth. I'm sure he never married Catherine Partington and a few years later he married Sarah.
I've seen the record of Fanny's birth and death in the parish register but of course it doesn't give any information about Catherine. I don't know what happened to her.
Many thanks, it would seem there is no one else researching Sarah.

Pms from Pat.
Thanks for your reply Elizabeth. Sarah Booth is such a common name that knowing which is my Sarah in all the death records has been very difficult.
I have sent for many death certs. with a covering letter explaining unless her husband was TBB or she was born in Llangollen to John and Mary I didn't want the certificate. Thanks for trying help.
and
Yes it is by me. I'd forgotten as it's so long ago and have put requests on so many sites.
I thought it would be simple to ask for anyone researching Sarah.

Did you perhaps post this on http://eolfhs.forumup.co.uk/about1463-eolfhs.html
I have the marriage cert. of Thomas and Sarah Roberts, nee Edwards, in 1853 in Manchester Cathedral witnessed by Mary Ann Cooper and James Taylor. She was the widow of John Roberts. Sarah was born in Llangollen, Wales in 1813.
In 1854 their son William was born and then there are no more records until Thomas's death in 1876 in Stepney. The informant was Louisa Hand who he could be lodging with.
William reappears in Hull in 1875 when he married Sarah Ann Morriss, he is a fisherman. When Sarah Ann died in 1893 he moved to Aberdeen with his children and married Annabella Walker the same year. He is now a skipper.
I have never been able to find Sarah Booth's death as it is such a common name and as they aren't on the 1861 or 71 census don't know where they are living or if there are other children.
and this from http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GENBRIT/2006-03/1141495285
The facts:- 24/04/1822. THOMAS BENTLEY BOOTH, baptised , Bury, Lancashire.
1851 census. BENTLEY BOOTH, age 29, Engineer, born Bury Lancs, lodger at Dog Yard, Bury, Lancs. 1851 census. SARAH ROBERTS, (widow) age 38, House servant at Garden St, Bury, born Llangollen, Wales. SARAH J. ROBERTS, age 13, Nursemaid, born Bury, Lancs JOHN ROBERTS, age 8?, born, Bury,Lancs.
23/05/1853. THOMAS BENTLEY BOOTH ( age 32, profession Engineer ) marries SARAH ROBERTS ( widow ) age given as 38. Manchester. 23/02/1854. WILLIAM BOOTH, born. 13 Minshull St, Manchester. 05/04/1875. WILLIAM BOOTH, marries in Hull, Yorks, 22/09/1876. THOMAS BENTLEY BOOTH dies, age 56, occupation Engineer at Tomlins Terrace, Limehouse, London.
********************** So in 1861 Thomas B Booth is 39, Sarah Booth is 48 ( working from '51 census ) William Booth is 7. Possibly Sarah J Roberts 23 and John Roberts 18? are with them? Whilst Lancashire would seem the first place to look, William got married (1875) and worked as a fisherman from Hull and TB Booth died in London (1876).
It doesn't answer your question but it does give any searchers more background information.
