My grandfather Patrick O'Donoghue is listed in the above census aged 23 years old living in Killarney Co Kerry Ireland. This may not be his place of birth. Next of kin lists his mother as Katherine O'Donoghue. Iam assuming his father is dead. |

Thank you for your replies, unfortunately i don't have his birth certificate as we're not sure of his exact date of birth and there are so many Patrick O'Donoghues around, on the census he's put his age as 23 so am assuming he was born c1899 |

Who did he marry? Have you found his marriage? The marriage cert should name his father and give his father's occupation. As there are so many with the same name, how sure are you that the one in the 1922 is the correct one? |

This looks like a possible marriage for the childrens parents but you would need to check Patrick's birth certificate for his mother maiden name |

There are some births for this couple which seem to follow family names |

On Patricks army records, it states his D.O.B/Place as 25/07/1899 Macroom Co Cork. Next of kin is his mother Katherine living in Glenflesk Co Kerry, since my last post i have found out that Patrick was a bigamist. His first marriage was on June 7th 1919 to an Elizabeth McGabe and his bigamist marriage was to a Sarah Brennan on 12th May 1923 Dublin. On the first marriage certificate he lists his father as Timothy O'Donoghue farmer deceased, on his second marriage certificate he lists his father as Jeremiah O'Donoghue deceased. I have a copy of the court report and it is definitely the same man, I am trying to find a copy of Patricks birth certificate. |

If these marriages show two different fathers, I should think that they are two different 'Patrick's' |

unfortunately i don't have any other information. The court records confirm it is the same man, it's possible he lied about his fathers real name for one of the marriages or maybe his father was Jeremiah Timothy or vise versa. I have copies of both marriage certificatesand his army records which confirm his date/place of birth and his mother Katherine as next of kin. Sorry i couldn't be of more help |
