BeverleyW Report 6 Mar 2015 21:50

Why do you think the ;Malyons in Southwark are the same family as the ones in Bristol?

BeverleyW

BeverleyW Report 6 Mar 2015 21:37

Very few returned home, they didn't have the means to pay the fare.

Just out of interest, the John who was transported was a barber by trade.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 6 Mar 2015 20:41

Can't be the same man, Yvonne.

Your gr-gr-grandfather born 1827 wouldn't have been named John if an older John was still alive.

Gee Report 6 Mar 2015 19:47

Hi Yvonne

I can't find anything concrete in OZ for your man

If the above is not your man and he died before Sept 1837, there will be no death certificate for him

It was quite common to name a new baby after a sibling that died .

So if you can't find the first John other than his baptism it's quite possible he did die young
