forgot to tell you

yesterday's surprise in the kitchen

remove part of the wood veneer panelling .................. to find the bottom part of a window opening!

It's on the other side of the archway from where we found a door way many years ago!

We had already decided that we will try painting the wood veneer rather than taking it all off ..... as we didn't know what we would find underneath it!

I once found a bathroom in a house I lived in.

Someday, somebody will find one in mine now. When I moved in it had been badly duplexed; the bathroom for the ground floor (my) apartment was down in the cellar. Two years later I renoed the ground floor and put a bathroom where the dead back staircase was (a staircase to nowhere, the upstairs bathroom had been built over the top of it ;) ). Now the one in the basement hasn't had the door opened in, well, the 10 yrs No.1 has been here, anyhow.

Speaking of No.1 ... he's the bottle washer, and the only cooking he does is to microwave the lunches he finds in the freezer. They come in margarine/yoghurt tubs of varying size. He doesn't use the stove for anything else -- just to open his tubs on and put the contents in a bowl to microwave. Every night, there's an empty tub on the stove when I go to make dinner.

And he just won't take the dirty dishes from the living room where we eat to the kitchen. He has to rest after eating, and I can't stand the dishes hogging the coffee table space. Even if he gets up to get something in the kitchen, he doesn't take them with him. Needs to concentrate, one job at a time, it seems ...............

Actually, this is one benefit of housing a diabetic. No snacking.

we had some friends who bought a house ....... then invited everyone to a house warming party, with an object in mind

Find the light switch in one of the rooms

We couldn't go to the party ....... but no-one there did find it.

The owners had to remove the wall panelling

so it seems that it really is a "man" thing to leave "stuff" behind??

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 03:22

That was how we found the bathroom -- had a party! My big hippie mansion c1970, somebody found the washroom tucked under the main staircase, the door to which was hidden by the hall door when you opened it. Clever. ;)

I guess parties work for finding bathrooms, but not light switches?

As for the leaving stuff behind ... the entire house is full of stuff I've left behind in the last 25 years, so I can't point too many fingers, me ...

G'night!

Croissants with rhubarb and ginger jam sounds wonderful thans>

Nightmare of a day yesterday.

The phone line that takes card payments went down yesterday.

We spent half the day under the desk trying to work out what went where and trying to find the test sockets.

I have to call them in a minute to tell them it is definitely a fault on the line.

Really good for business if you cannot take any money.

I dont eat breakfast, which is why I do not ever say thank you to Sylvia.
Cuppa and a cig is my brekkie.

When we moved here we could not find the inside stopcock tap thingy for the water anywhere, asked the old owners son and he said he didnt know where it was.
Eventually when doing out the bathroom we found it in a corner under the bath behind the handbuilt nailed onto walls either side bath panel that I took the crowbar too..
Lot of use behind there if we had a bad leak as the outside one is outside our gate and halfway up the drive !

Laying that new bedroom carpet today,so on furniture removals duty first ,then send HID out for new Stanley knife blades as mine are all rather blunt, then have to put everything back...sigh.
Better look good when I finished is all I can say and that I like the colour when its down.

Thanks Sylvia......wonderful breakfast as per usual. Are you okay Dea, you didn't eat much this morning?

Hope you get your probs with the phone line sorted LK......must be very frustrating. Give them some earache! I had probs with my 1571 thingey last week. I had to make 4 phone calls - and they're not cheap - to get it sorted. On the 4th call I asked for the supervisor and it was sorted v.quickly.

Glad to see you're on your knees Fans.......it won't do you any harm.....may even do you some good!! :))

What sort of diet is a cuppa and a ciggie for brekkie? I'm amazed you have the strength to lay a carpet.

Housework day today so it looks like I am not going anywhere......mind you, yesterday was manic so I ain't complaining.

I know Renes - It was VERY naughty of me to get SO impatient - It is not like me, as you know!!

I just felt so awful yesterday and took it out on the thread - I did say sorry and put the info back.

Think I had better have a quiet couple of days till the steroids and the anti-biotics start to 'kick-in'.
