Well that was weird counting.

Irene, I'm not sure what a grill is. ;)

We have a toaster somewhere, but we don't eat toast so I'm not sure where. The odd time I want to make toasty tomato sandwiches for Sunday lunch, I just use the broiler. Is that the grill?

Set the control knob on the stove past "bake" to "broil", then turn the temp control knob all the way around to "broil", and there you are, broiling. I'll leave a pieplate out to stick the bread on to run it under the broiler.

But they aren't rolls, I fear. Big round crusty loaves with dense soft bread inside. You rip 'em up with your hands. I do, anyway. When I had to share a loaf with my dad when he visited, he sliced off one side, and I ripped off the other. So I'll leave the breadknife on the cutting board!

Yes the broiler is the grill here in the UK

Another one hitting the hay now.......night all. Be good.

Who's on breakfast? Is it Janey (now I know where she keeps the marmalade) or is Sylvs back on duty? Mind you, Sylvs kitchen is being renovated isn't it, so she may be madly busy. Notice that Fans never gets up in time to be of any use.....huh......

yaaaaaaaawnnn - oh. scuse me.

Going already?

I have just got in.

I have been to a conference about eyecare for people with learning disabilities.

I cannot make much sense of these postings today though.

What did you put in the coffee JC?

Catch up, Cynthia.

Cold buffet breakfast, with the option of grilling whatever combo you decide on. ;)

Just a quick hello!

(saw my name mentioned earlier so thought I'd better show my face!)

There were a few postings a couple of pages ago from a Linda, is it someone that somebody here has been in touch with?

Hi

back from coffee

countertops delivered earlier this afternoon

........ OH just had to open 2 of the well-packaged tops, and put them in place

Look good!

now if we can only solve the problem of the oven sticking out about 7" further than the old one did, which is what daughter based her plans on

If we can't, we have a cupboard and a drawer we can't use

Possible solutions depend on cbainetmaker and electrician being able to do certain things

May still end up having to open the oven door before we can open the drawer

:)))

I will take that lie-in again, and let Janey feed you all her left overs.

Mind you .... that bread was scrumptious

Re broiler / grill

Is the grill in the UK still extra to the oven??

Here the broiler is usually in the oven .............. just a heating element on the top inside surface.

To broil, you have to leave the door open

If you don't, the oven gets far too hot, and burns out the thermostat ... as well as putting out lots of smoke, and even flames, from whatever you're broiling

Been there, done that!

Enough work there for a week to keep me quiet ...

Thanks go to Ginny for the ER lookups though, but that of course is the easy bit after I have done the leg work..Humph,trouble brewing indeed, just you wait Madam C.

I may unload the next lot of ER lookups on Trace though, havent bothered her in a while....:)

Yep broiler /grill is that element thingy in the top of the oven here too Sylvs.
But I have gas,so mine is not in the oven but under the burners as it is a 1960 stove/cooker...
Would prefer an eyelevel grill on top of the stove, but beggers cant be choosers..!
