did I tell you earlier that OH had been to the dentist again this morning?

The one-sided hamster is back

Only this time it is the other cheek

The dentist told him to eat soft food for about 3 days, and not to chew on this side until the stitches come out in 7-9 days

Major problem

he can't chew on the other side either 'cos there are not enough "meeting" teeth!

We're having an omelette for dinner tonight

Daughter phoned just before we went out for coffee

She offered to send OH some of the food she's preparing for MJ who is now just beginning "proper" food, and said they would have a plentiful supply of such food at Christmas if necessary

She was laughing away as she planned all this

OH did not think it was sooooooooo funny when I told him :)))

It takes 10 seconds, it uses 1/3 the space on the monitor, and it makes infinitely more sense, that way!

I postem!

I also recently saw an entry at FreeBMD that had been corrected to reflect reality rather than what the GRO index said -- the error was in the original, not the transcription.

I had always understood that the whole deal with FreeBMD was that it was a transcription of what the index says, not what it oughter say. So I was intrigued.

Because I would love to have this one fixed:

Deaths Dec 1865
Rusland Frances Melton M. 7a 165

(I didn't submit the correction to Frances from Francis -- I suspect it was the horrible person called jogee39 at Ancestry who has annotated half my ancestors and refuses to respond to attempts to contact.)

That's my grx ... 3, I think ... grandmother, and the name was *Rushland*. And she was the last person with that surname (albeit by marriage) to live and die in England. Her husband and two sons died well before 1837, and it's just so galling to see that an error has kept all record of her and them out of that particular history book!

edit - this is the one I was talking about:

http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?r=29980151&d=bmd_1286274134

Anybody ever seen anything like that?

I'm going to claim precedent when I call for Frances Rushland to be recorded for posterity!

jax Report 19 Oct 2010 04:13

No thats not good JC

At least there were no changes on my one, just all the details from the cert recorded for anyone else to see.
The fact they had also given details of the brides birth name also, which would be very helpful for anyone looking for her.

I've never seen anything like that!

even though I have seen errors that go all the way back to the GRO index

Like you, I thought that we could not make corrections of those.
